This is Beijing through the sun, when I can't see things clearly because the glowing sun, because of the sunlight that was going everywhere. I saw the sun, and I saw it coming through all the tall buildings down to my apartment, through the window.

These two paintings are new paintings I did 2013 when I was in Beijing. I temporarily got a studio in my aunt's place and that's where I spent almost a month sketching out some ideas and starting some paintings. I was in Beijing for almost a month, and I spent most of the time in the studio.

I tend to make my painting 'untitled' because I don't want to limit the painting with a title, I add another title after the 'untitled' name in a bracket because I want to remind myself of the moment that I was doing the painting - what was I thinking about while creating the scene on the canvas.

Cities, my life, my experience are important to me - I want my painting to represent the moment I was experiencing on the canvas.

I'm interested in the idea of nature vs. man-made. How we are changing the world, changing the environment we are living in, and how we are making the surrounding look different from the history. My paintings explore the idea of the natural and the artificial by creating an abstract environment that evokes a mixture of urban space, especially architecture, and nature.
